London Prepares for Major Protests

London's Metropolitan Police are preparing for significant public order operations on September 13, 2025, as large-scale far-right and pro-Palestinian demonstrations are scheduled to converge in the city. This coincides with the FA Cup final, necessitating a substantial police deployment to manage potential confrontations and maintain public safety.

The far-right "Unite the Kingdom" march, organized by Stephen Yaxley Lennon (Tommy Robinson), is anticipated to draw over 100,000 participants, following a previous event in September 2024 that attracted 150,000 individuals to Parliament Square. Concurrently, a smaller pro-Palestinian counter-march, expected to involve 15,000 to 40,000 people, will also take place. Police plan to separate these groups to prevent direct clashes.

Approximately 4,000 police officers will be on duty, supported by armored Sandcat vehicles and drones. Enhanced powers will be granted to officers in central London. Authorities are also monitoring potential involvement from football hooligans, who have previously supported Robinson's events. The police intend to pursue prosecutions against speakers and organizers for incitement to hatred, particularly concerning antisemitic chants or slogans, with a focus on phrases like "globalise the intifada."
