Yemeni Government Announces Offensive to Reclaim Houthi-Held Territory

The internationally recognized Yemeni government has initiated a military campaign to reclaim all territory currently held by Houthi forces. This directive aims to restore state authority across the nation, despite recent territorial losses along the Red Sea coastline and the Bab al-Mandab strait.

The announcement follows a strategic Houthi advance that successfully severed a critical supply route between the government’s interim capital, Aden, and the city of Taiz. Houthi forces have now effectively surrounded Taiz, escalating the humanitarian and security crisis in the region.

Simultaneously, Houthi forces reported conducting drone and ballistic missile strikes against Saudi energy infrastructure. These actions coincide with ongoing reports of intensified aerial bombardment by the Saudi-led coalition within Yemen.

Casualty reports from both sides indicate significant loss of life, with over 70 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours. The escalation threatens regional maritime security and the stability of critical energy supply chains.
