The United States imposed 36 new sanctions on Iran’s aviation sector on Tuesday, aiming to ground commercial carriers including Mahan Air. These measures extend to front companies, foreign intermediaries, and transshipment networks in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates that Washington alleges facilitate the acquisition of US-origin technology.

Treasury Suspends Authorizations The Treasury Department concurrently suspended three authorizations that previously permitted overflights and the operation of US-controlled commercial aircraft within Iranian airspace. Financial institutions are now required to report procurement networks supporting Iranian aviation, raising compliance risks for international aviation firms and financial entities.
