The smaller Xbox gamepad targets younger players and users with smaller hands while extending Microsoft’s controller push across consoles, PCs, phones and TVs.

Xbox opens $50 Nano Controller preorders for Nov. 4 US launch

Xbox opened preorders on Oct. 14 for the $50 Xbox Nano Controller, a compact gamepad it says is just over 5 inches long and weighs 3.5 ounces, according to an Engadget article.

The launch gives Xbox a smaller first-party controller option ahead of the holiday season, with a Nov. 4 U.S. shipping date and availability planned in 35 other countries next month.

Xbox said the Nano Controller is the smallest controller in its lineup and keeps the standard Xbox layout in a reduced format. The company said the rechargeable device may suit younger players and people with smaller hands.

The controller includes a programmable action button that can be set through the Xbox Accessories app for functions such as screenshots or gameplay video capture, according to the article. Bluetooth support extends compatibility beyond Xbox consoles and PCs to iOS and Android devices and certain smart TVs.

Samsung plans to bundle the controller with two months of Game Pass Ultimate for new subscribers on select U.S. TV purchases during the holiday season. Engadget reported that a similar offer is being prepared for Meta Quest headsets.

The accessory arrives as Xbox is preparing to impose cloud-gaming time limits next month. Under that change, Game Pass Ultimate users will be able to stream cloud games on TVs, Quest headsets or other devices for 15 hours unless they buy time credits, according to Engadget.

The Xbox Nano Controller will ship in the U.S. on Nov. 4, with additional countries due next month and further markets expected later.
