US Sanctions Lebanese Officials and Hezbollah Members

The United States has imposed sanctions on nine individuals, including elected members of Lebanon's parliament, an Iranian diplomat, and Lebanese security officials. These actions target individuals accused of facilitating Hezbollah's operations and undermining Lebanese sovereignty.
The US Treasury stated the designations aim to obstruct the peace process in Lebanon and impede Hezbollah's disarmament. The State Department indicated that sanctioned security officials allegedly abused their roles.

Among those sanctioned are four Hezbollah members, including a leader in its executive council and an elected parliamentarian. The Iranian ambassador-designate to Lebanon and two security officials from the Hezbollah-allied Amal Movement were also included.
Additionally, a branch chief with the Lebanese Armed Forces and a top official with the General Directorate for General Security faced sanctions for allegedly sharing intelligence with Hezbollah. These measures coincide with ongoing US-brokered peace talks between Lebanon and Israel.
