Drone Attack Destroys Wildberries Hub in Tambov, Kills Three

Ukrainian drone strikes across multiple Russian regions killed three civilians and destroyed a significant Wildberries logistics facility on Wednesday. The attack in the Tambov region incinerated approximately 100,000 square meters of the e-commerce warehouse, according to regional governor Yevgeny Pervyshov.

Civilian Casualties and Infrastructure Damage

The offensive marks an escalation in Ukraine's strategy of targeting critical Russian industrial infrastructure. Beyond the Tambov blaze, drone activity was reported in the Nizhny Novgorod, Lipetsk, and Belgorod regions. Local authorities confirmed additional casualties, including a man and a 14-year-old killed by a falling drone in Lipetsk, and a woman killed in Belgorod.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported intercepting 426 drones overnight, indicating a notable increase in aerial engagement. This figure includes interceptions over Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine.

Targeting Russian Logistics Networks

Ukraine has identified Wildberries and its competitor Ozon as targets, alleging these logistics networks facilitate Russian military supply chains. Moscow maintains that these facilities serve exclusively civilian purposes.

The systematic targeting of these hubs aims to disrupt the domestic supply chain of the Russian economy. This intensified strike pattern reflects a broader shift toward long-range industrial sabotage as the conflict enters its fifth year.

Escalating Drone Warfare

The latest attacks follow previous Ukrainian strikes on Wildberries facilities since mid-July. The e-commerce sector, dominated by Wildberries and Ozon, represents one of the fastest-growing segments of the Russian economy. Both Moscow and Kyiv have repeatedly denied targeting civilians since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022. However, strikes on both sides have intensified, contributing to a rising number of civilian casualties.
