Ukraine regains US intelligence link after pause
Zelenskyy said restored sharing reduces vulnerability to Russian missile strikes after Washington halted the channel for an unspecified period.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Oct. 18 that the United States resumed intelligence sharing after one pause that left Ukraine more exposed to Russian missile strikes.
Zelenskyy said in a television interview that the channel had been halted for “some period of time” and later restored by the American side. The length of the pause was not specified.
US intelligence channel resumes
The issue matters for Ukraine’s air defenses because intelligence sharing can help identify missile launches, flight paths and likely targets. Zelenskyy said he was “thankful” for the resumption, tying the restored flow to Ukraine’s ability to reduce exposure to Russian attacks.
The statement confirms a repair in one part of US-Ukraine security cooperation, rather than a new weapons package or battlefield commitment. It also puts attention back on how consistently Washington shares operational information while Ukraine remains dependent on Western support for surveillance, targeting and air-defense coordination.
The immediate geopolitical risk is that any future interruption would narrow Ukraine’s warning time and increase pressure on European allies to fill gaps.
If the restored channel holds, Kyiv’s defenses should retain a critical layer of external support; if it is interrupted again, Ukraine’s vulnerability to missile salvos would rise.
By Oct. 19, the next marker is whether US or Ukrainian officials give more detail on the duration of the pause, the scope of restored intelligence and whether any limits remain.
