US Navy Repels Iranian Attacks, Sinks Vessels in Hormuz

U.S. Sinks Iranian Boats Amid Strait of Hormuz Attacks The United States military on Monday destroyed six Iranian small boats in the Strait of Hormuz asourceser Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and commercial vessels. This escalation occurred as two commercial vessels safely transited the waterway under the U.S. 'Project Freedom' initiative, designed to guide ships through the contested area.

Iran initiated its first missile and drone attack on the UAE since an April 8 ceasefire, concurrently firing two drones at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command reported that Iranian forces launched multiple cruise missiles, drones, and small boats at protected ships, all of which were intercepted. Separately, an attack on a residential building in Oman's Musandam Peninsula injured two foreign nationals, though the weapon type was not specified.

U.S. President Trump indicated that Iran had also targeted a South Korean cargo ship, sustaining damage, and suggested South Korea should join the mission. The U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports continues, with President Trump stating that U.S. bases are prepared for further strikes if necessary. Iran had previously warned that any vessel attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz would be attacked.
