Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 opened worldwide on Oct. 15, 2026, triggering massive fan celebrations and high box-office expectations across India and the UAE.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest film, Jailer 2, opened in theaters worldwide on Oct. 15, 2026, drawing significant crowds and fan celebrations from Chennai to Dubai. The release marks the actor's return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, following the commercial success of the original film.
In Attur, Tamil Nadu, fans erected a 30-foot cut-out of the actor, performing traditional milk abhishekam rituals and using cranes to adorn the display with garlands. Similar festivities occurred in Bengaluru, Palakkad, and Canada, where fans organized special screenings to mark the opening day.
Dubai-based fan associations for Rajinikanth and co-star Mohanlal coordinated screenings at VOX Cinemas and Star Cinemas, with some festivities beginning as early as 2:30 a.m. local time. The film features an ensemble cast including Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, and Jackie Shroff, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
Expectations for the film's financial performance remain high following reports that the first installment grossed more than 600 crore rupees globally. While some fans have projected that the sequel could reach 1,000 crore rupees, these figures remain speculative as the film begins its theatrical run.
Composer Anirudh Ravichander, who scored the film, noted the actor's 51-year career in a social media tribute ahead of the release. The film's debut follows a milestone in pre-sale ticketing, according to industry reports.
