Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, Ukraine, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, resulted in the deaths of at least 24 individuals, including three children. This incident marks one of the deadliest attacks on the Ukrainian capital since the commencement of Russia's full-scale invasion.
The strikes targeted an apartment building, causing significant structural damage and necessitating overnight search and rescue operations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that an entire section of the building was effectively destroyed by the missile impact.
Concurrently, Russia and Ukraine conducted a prisoner of war exchange, with each side releasing 205 individuals. President Zelenskyy indicated this exchange was the initial phase of a larger agreement aiming for a 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner swap.
