Renegade brings Dungeon Crawler Carl to tabletop after $13.3m campaign
The BackerKit campaign exceeded a $250,000 target, giving the LitRPG series a sizable fan-funded push into tabletop gaming.

Renegade Game Studios plans to launch Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable in November after a BackerKit campaign raised $13.3 million, Headtopics reported in an aggregated news item on Oct. 15.
The campaign drew more than 55,000 backers and exceeded a $250,000 goal, according to the report, putting a large fan-funded budget behind a licensed tabletop adaptation.
The game adapts Matt Dinniman's Dungeon Crawler Carl, a LitRPG series that began in 2020 and has five sequels, according to the report. LitRPG is fiction built around role-playing-game systems, including levels, classes and progression.
The series follows Carl and Princess Donut, his ex-girlfriend's cat, after the Borant Corporation forces survivors into an 18-level World Dungeon. The tabletop version lets players use characters including Carl, Donut, Florin and Prepotente, or build new crawlers with custom class and race options unlocked after level three, the report said.
Renegade is also preparing expansion packs and dice sets around the launch. The report said Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable offers 31 add-ons priced from $5 to $65, including a $10 Mongo and Princess Donut Sticker Bundle.
The report did not provide core-game pricing, full rules, shipping details or a specific November release date. The launch window is the next test of whether the crowdfunding audience converts into a broader retail tabletop player base.
