Judge Unseals Epstein's Suicide Note

Federal Judge Unseals Epstein Suicide Note A federal judge in White Plains, New York, on Wednesday unsealed a purported suicide note written by Jeffrey Epstein, which had been sealed for years as part of the criminal case against his cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione. The unsealing occurred asourceser The New York Times petitioned the court last Thursday to make the document public.

The note, discovered by Tartaglione in July 2019 asourceser Epstein's initial suicide attempt, contains phrases such as "They investigated me for months — FOUND NOTHING!!!" and "It is a treat to be able to choose one’s time to say goodbye."

Epstein, 66, was found dead weeks later in August 2019 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan, with his death ruled a suicide by the New York City medical examiner. The note's existence was previously known to Tartaglione, a former police officer convicted in a quadruple murder case, who stated he found it in a graphic novel. Tartaglione's lawyers reportedly authenticated the note, though the method of authentication was not detailed in court documents.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan did not oppose the note's release, citing a "strong public interest in the circumstances surrounding Epstein’s death." This development provides additional material related to Epstein's incarceration and death, which has been the subject of extensive public scrutiny and various theories regarding the circumstances of his demise.
