Iran Intensifies Regional Attacks, U.S. Responds

Iran escalated its military actions across the Middle East on Wednesday, targeting U.S. bases and launching missiles towards Israel, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, prompting retaliatory measures from U.S. forces. The Pentagon reported approximately 140 U.S. service members have been wounded in the first 10 days of the conflict, which began on March 1, 2026. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated on Tuesday that Iran's missile launch capacity had been degraded by 90% during the war.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for firing two missiles at the U.S. base in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, on Wednesday, following an earlier strike on March 1 that killed six U.S.

soldiers at a nearby location. Simultaneously, Iran launched multiple missile waves towards Israel, triggering emergency alerts in several areas, including Jerusalem.

Air defenses in Bahrain and the UAE also engaged incoming Iranian strikes, with one attack in Manama, Bahrain, killing a 29-year-old woman and injuring eight others.

In response to intelligence suggesting Iran's intent to deploy naval mines, U.S. Central Command reported destroying 16 Iranian mine-laying vessels near the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday. Saudi Arabia's defense ministry also intercepted six ballistic missiles launched by Iran towards Prince Sultan Air Base, a facility hosting U.S. forces.
