Lisbon AI Safety Hub adds second fellowship cohort amid high demand
The Lisbon AI Safety Hub has launched a second fellowship cohort to meet high applicant demand for its AI safety and governance training program.

The Lisbon AI Safety Hub (LAISH) has launched a second cohort for its Foundations of AI Safety Fellowship, citing strong interest from applicants during its inaugural session. President Caleb Eli Price announced the expansion on LinkedIn, noting that the new group has already commenced its first session.
The fellowship is an eight-week program designed to prepare students and professionals for careers in AI safety, government, and research. Participants study materials from the AI Safety Atlas, a textbook developed by Lens Academy, to explore technical risks and mitigation strategies. The initiative is supported by a grant from BlueDot Impact, though the specific funding amount and the number of participants in the current cohort were not disclosed.
The Lisbon AI Safety
LAISH focuses on individuals early in their engagement with AI safety, drawing from fields such as data science, security, and the military. The hub maintains outreach programs at institutions including ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon, Nova School of Business and Economics, and Técnico ULisboa. Beyond the fellowship, the organization hosts public guest lectures on topics such as the EU AI Act and technical safety governance.
Looking ahead, the hub plans to develop an intensive one-week course and organize joint hackathons with AI safety communities in Barcelona and Madrid. While the organization has outlined these expansion goals, it has not yet provided specific dates for the new programming. Interested participants can register for future updates through the LAISH website.
