Jio lists on NSE after $3.6 billion IPO draws record bids
The offering drew 14 million applications and bids worth roughly $88 billion before trading began on the National Stock Exchange.

Jio Platforms shares debuted on the National Stock Exchange on Oct. 28 following a 30,213 crore rupee ($3.6 billion) initial public offering, as Indian equities absorbed unprecedented order volume.
The public issue was fully subscribed within 95 minutes of opening, drawing roughly 1.4 crore applications and accumulating bids worth approximately 7.4 lakh crore rupees. Akash Ambani, managing director of Jio Platforms, said at the listing ceremony that the outcome leaves management with greater responsibility to public shareholders.
Capital commitments test exchange infrastructure
Exchange data showed the transaction established historic volume benchmarks for Indian equity capital markets. The 7.4 lakh crore rupees in accumulated bids reflected broad participation across domestic institutional and retail accounts, reinforcing the company's valuation framework without draining secondary market liquidity.
The massive subscription pace highlights expanding local capital pools that now comfortably finance multi-billion-dollar listings without sole reliance on foreign portfolio flows. Sponsoring institutions settled order books swiftly to facilitate orderly clearing on opening day.
Secondary trading in Jio Platforms shares continues through the Oct. 28 session on the National Stock Exchange, with initial trading performance and settlement reconciliations set to finalize before the market open on Oct. 29.
