Ukraine Deploys Drone Experts to Middle East

Ukrainian drone warfare specialists have deployed to the Middle East this week to assist Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in defending against Iranian attack drones. These teams will coordinate air defense operations and reportedly collaborate with American personnel to protect U.S.

military bases in Jordan. This deployment follows a surge in international demand for Ukraine's drone warfare expertise, particularly as hostilities involving Iranian drones have increased in the Gulf region.

Ukraine has developed extensive experience in countering drone attacks since 2022, utilizing cost-effective methods including interceptor drones, monitoring systems, electronic warfare, and helicopter gunships. This expertise is now being shared with the United States and its Gulf allies. Additionally, Germany has confirmed plans for Ukrainian experts to train German troops, and Romania has announced a joint venture for drone co-production with Ukraine.

This development highlights Ukraine's emergence as a significant security partner and military power. The country's domestic drone manufacturing sector, which had only a few producers at the start of the 2022 invasion, is projected to produce seven million drones by 2026. Ukrainian drones are currently responsible for approximately 75% of Russian battlefield casualties and have been instrumental in naval operations, neutralizing about one-third of Russia's Black Sea Fleet.
