Iranians are employing various methods, including cross-border phone services and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), to circumvent internet and phone restrictions imposed by authorities during the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel. These measures enable communication with family abroad, despite high costs and unreliable connections.

For instance, a service operating on the Iran-Turkey border facilitates calls by bridging Iranian and Turkish mobile networks, costing approximately £28 ($38) for a 4-5 minute conversation, including transfer fees. Similarly, VPN usage has surged, with data costing around £15 ($20) per gigabyte, a significant expense given Iran's monthly minimum wage of $100.

These workarounds often result in unstable connections and lost data, yet individuals continue to utilize them to maintain contact and exchange information not available through state-controlled media.
