Americans Blame Trump for Rising Gas Prices

Nearly half of Americans, 48%, attribute rising gas prices to President Trump and his administration, according to a Morning Consult flash poll conducted on Wednesday night and shared with Axios. This perception emerges as 74% of Americans report an increase in gas prices this year, a 30-point rise from six weeks prior. The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by over 20% in the last month, reaching $3.60 from $2.95, according to AAA data.

The surge in oil prices, linked to an ongoing conflict, is becoming a political challenge for the White House and poses a threat to U.S. economic growth.

While 48% blame the administration, 16% point to oil and gas companies, 13% to global market forces, and 11% to former President Biden. The administration maintains that prices will decrease once the conflict subsides, with a White House spokeswoman stating that oil and gas prices could drop rapidly after military objectives are completed and the Iranian regime is neutralized.
