Gunman in University Shooting Had ISIS Ties
A gunman with prior ISIS support convictions killed one and injured two at Old Dominion University before being killed.

Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former Virginia National Guardsman, killed one person and wounded two others at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, on Thursday, before being killed himself. Jalloh had previously been convicted and imprisoned for attempting to provide material support to ISIS, according to law enforcement sources. He pleaded guilty in October 2016 and was sentenced to 11 years, but was released early in December 2024.
The incident occurred at Constant Hall, part of the College of Business, where Jalloh reportedly asked if a class was an ROTC class before opening fire. The deceased victim was a retired Army officer and class instructor. The two other victims, also affiliated with the university, were in stable condition at Norfolk and Virginia Beach hospitals. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll confirmed two victims were Army personnel.
Old Dominion University issued an all-clear notification after the shooter was neutralized, suspending classes for the day. Federal agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI, provided assistance at the scene.
