Ukraine Drones Strike Russian Energy Targets

Ukrainian drones struck multiple energy and industrial targets across several Russian regions on May 31, 2026, escalating Kyiv's campaign against Russian infrastructure. The attacks impacted areas including Saratov, Kirov, Rostov, Voronezh, and Belgorod, with Ukraine's military confirming strikes on the Saratov oil refinery and the Lazarevo oil-pumping station in the Kirov region.

In Saratov, Governor Roman Busargin reported damage to civilian infrastructure. Kirov Governor Alexander Sokolov confirmed a drone hit a facility in the Urzhumsky district, approximately 1,300 km (800 miles) from Ukraine. Concurrently, authorities in Russian-controlled Crimea introduced restrictions on petrol sales, following months of Ukrainian attacks on fuel infrastructure in southwestern Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the receipt of a new Iris-T air defense missile launcher from Germany, while reiterating calls for increased air defense ammunition from allies to repel Russian attacks.
