Informa has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Clarion Events from Blackstone for £2.24 billion. The transaction adds over 100 events to the purchaser’s portfolio, including the biennial Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition.
To finance the acquisition, Informa will initiate a £940 million share placing. The company anticipates the integration will bolster earnings per share beginning in 2027.
This strategic shift aims to concentrate resources on Simultaneously, Informa has announced a formal review to separate its academic publishing division, Taylor & Francis. Management noted that the firm’s revenue remains heavily concentrated in India, Asia, and the Middle East. The separation of the publishing arm is expected to conclude by March 2026, following a comprehensive review of divestment options.
