BT has entered into a £400 million agreement to acquire the broadband provider TalkTalk out of administration. The transaction includes the acquisition of the wholesale business PlatformX Communications and the transfer of 1.5 million retail customers to BT’s existing infrastructure.
The acquisition is subject to a mandatory review by the Competition and Markets Authority. The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has invoked Enterprise Act powers to assess the deal’s impact on public services and vulnerable consumer protections, with a report deadline set for October 19.
