Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr. faces suspension risk amid poor form

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has publicly backed Vinicius Jr. to rediscover his form, despite the 26-year-old winger producing only one goal and three assists in 672 minutes across nine appearances this season. The forward now faces a potential La Liga suspension following a red card against Villarreal, which could rule him out of the upcoming El Clasico against Barcelona.

Speaking to TNT Sports Brazil ahead of a Champions League match against AS Roma, Mourinho dismissed concerns regarding the Brazilian's long-term effectiveness. "Vinicius will return to his best. It’s only a matter of time," Mourinho said.

Mourinho noted that he adjusted his tactical approach to the player following a derby against Atletico Madrid, aiming to shield the winger from mounting pressure. The manager remains confident that the forward's speed and dribbling skills will continue to pose threats to opposition defenses once his confidence returns.

Should the suspension be confirmed, Mourinho must evaluate alternative attacking options for the high-profile fixture. Vinicius signed a new contract with the club this past summer after rejecting interest from Arsenal.
