Iran Deal Hopes Fuel Global Market Surge

Global Markets Rally on Iran Deal Hopes Global stock markets rallied and oil prices declined on Tuesday, following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of progress toward a "final agreement" with Iran. This development led to a 2% drop in Brent crude oil prices to $107 a barrel, while MSCI's All-Country World Index increased by 0.4%, setting a new record.

President Trump stated he would temporarily pause "Project Freedom," an operation escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz, to facilitate a deal with Tehran. The Strait of Hormuz, which transports approximately one-fisourcesh of global oil supplies, has been subject to an Iranian blockade since late February, contributing to an energy crisis. Despite the pause in escort operations, the blockade of Iranian ports will remain in effect.

The market response included significant gains in Asian equities, with South Korea's Kospi index surging 6.6% to surpass the 7,000 mark for the first time. Wall Street also saw record highs, with the S&P 500 rising 0.8% and the Nasdaq Composite gaining 1%. This market optimism follows a period where Brent crude had reached $126 a barrel last week, its highest since 2022, amid stalled peace talks and a U.S. blockade of Iranian ports.
