The backlash began when social media users pointed to what they described as visual anomalies, including a scene they said closely resembled imagery from Makoto Shinkai’s film “Weathering with You,” as well as distorted visuals in an in-game TV advertisement.
During a stream, Ironmouse said her team had asked the game’s developers about AI use before agreeing to the sponsorship and was told the project did not use AI. Asourceser the allegations circulated, she publicly disavowed the game and said she removed it from her system.
Ironmouse also said she routinely asks sponsors to confirm whether AI is used before she agrees to paid promotions.
Developer Hotta Studio has not publicly confirmed whether AI-generated assets appear in the final version of “Neverness to Everness.” The studio has previously said AI tools were used during early experimentation, including for atmosphere renderings and preliminary visual references, while stating that core assets and character portraits would not involve AI.
