Apple Mac Mini Price Rises Amid AI Demand Apple Inc. has increased the starting price of its Mac Mini computer from $599 to $799, effective this week. This adjustment follows a surge in demand for the device, which Apple attributes to its utility in artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The previous $599 base model, which featured 256GB of storage, is no longer available on Apple's website. The new entry-level Mac Mini now offers 512GB of storage at the $799 price point.
The increased demand for the Mac Mini has been driven by its adoption as a platform for AI and agentic tools, including open-source AI agents like OpenClaw. Apple CEO Tim Cook noted during a recent quarterly earnings call that customer recognition of the Mac Mini's AI capabilities has accelerated faster than anticipated, leading to higher-than-expected demand. Cook indicated that it could take several months for the supply of Mac Mini units to align with current demand levels.
While the price for the 512GB model itself has not changed, the removal of the lower-priced 256GB option effectively raises the minimum investment required for a new Mac Mini. This strategic pricing adjustment reflects Apple's response to market dynamics influenced by the growing interest in AI-driven computing solutions.
