Birmingham City’s Boateng earns Belgium under-16 call-up
Birmingham City’s 14-year-old winger Grandel Boateng has received his first Belgium U16 national team call-up ahead of November’s international window.
Birmingham City winger Grandel Boateng received his first call-up to Belgium's under-16 national team for the November international window. The Royal Belgian Football Association issued the invitation for the 14-year-old, who previously represented England at the under-15 level in 2025.
Boateng represents Birmingham City's under-18 squad and holds the club record as the youngest player to appear in the English U18 Premier League, making his debut at 14 years and 99 days old. That milestone eclipsed marks previously held by Jude Bellingham and goalkeeper Alfie Smith.
The winger is scheduled to feature in a friendly against Luxembourg next month. Boateng remains eligible for multiple nations at senior international level due to his Ghanaian heritage.
