Pentagon sends carrier group as Iran risk rises
The USS Theodore Roosevelt and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit are headed to West Asia as Trump weighs Iran options.

The Pentagon is sending the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit to West Asia, officials said Wednesday. Reaction pending.
The move would add a US carrier and Marine force to the region as President Trump weighs whether to step up strikes on Iran after the midterm elections, officials said.
Roosevelt due by November
Officials said the carrier is due in West Asia by the end of November. The 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit is also being sent, adding an amphibious force that can support evacuation, crisis response or limited combat missions if ordered.
The deployment comes as Washington assesses its next steps toward Iran, according to officials. The timing matters because a carrier strike group gives the White House more military options while also raising the risk that Tehran and regional actors read the move as preparation for a wider campaign.
For markets, the first channel is energy risk. If traders price a higher chance of disruption near Gulf shipping lanes, crude and refined-product prices can move before any physical supply loss appears.
If the deployment remains a deterrent posture, the market impact may stay limited to a geopolitical risk premium.
The forward call is the carrier’s arrival window: officials said the USS Theodore Roosevelt is expected in West Asia by the end of November.
