Apple plans ‘Create a Pass’ tool for iOS 27 Wallet, Bloomberg reports

Apple is testing a new “Create a Pass” feature for the Wallet app in iOS 27 that would let users generate and customize their own digital tickets, memberships and gisources cards, sources reported. The tool is expected to be unveiled in June at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.

The feature is aimed at cases where a service provides a QR code for entry or redemption but does not issue an Apple Wallet-compatible pass. With the new tool, users would be able to import a QR code and create a pass around it.

In test versions of iOS 27, the capability appears under the “+” button in the Wallet app and on the page where users typically add new credit cards. The interface prompts users to “create passes for tickets, memberships, gisources cards and more.”

Users can create a pass from scratch or use the iPhone camera to scan a QR code and convert it into a digital ticket. Apple is also testing customization options including styles, images, colors and text fields.

If launched, the update would expand Wallet’s role beyond storing passes issued by third-party apps, along with payment cards for Apple Pay, digital keys and retailer gisources cards. The addition would also make iOS closer to Android, where Google Wallet already offers similar pass-building features.

Separately, sources reported that iOS 27 is expected to include other changes, including a revamped Siri voice assistant and expanded in-house artificial intelligence features for photo editing, the camera app and visual intelligence.
