André Ayew details failed 2015 Liverpool transfer before Swansea move
André Ayew revealed that a 2015 transfer to Liverpool failed due to contract disputes, leading the Ghanaian forward to join Swansea City instead.

Ghana forward André Ayew said a proposed transfer to Liverpool collapsed over contractual terms in 2015 before he joined Swansea City. The 36-year-old free agent detailed the failed switch from Olympique de Marseille on The Obi One Podcast released Oct. 20.
Ayew said Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, and Roma also pursued him upon the expiry of his contract in France. Prioritizing a move to the Premier League, Ayew opted for Swansea, where he recorded 48 goals in 152 appearances across two spells between 2015 and 2021.

"It was quite close," Ayew said on the podcast. "I wanted to go there, but we couldn’t agree on certain things. Liverpool, Spurs, Roma and Inter were interested, but I wanted to play in the Premier League. Then Swansea came in, and everything fell into place."
Ayew, who ranks second in Ghana history with 120 senior international caps, remains unattached following a stint with Dutch club NAC Breda. His European career includes tenures at West Ham United, Fenerbahçe, Nottingham Forest, and Le Havre.
