Tony Dungy Departs NBC's Football Night

Tony Dungy, a Hall of Fame head coach, will not return to NBC's "Football Night in America" (FNIA) pregame show for the upcoming fall season, concluding his 17-year tenure. NBC informed Dungy of the decision, which he announced via Twitter. Dungy, 70, joined FNIA in 2009 after a distinguished coaching career that included leading the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl XLI victory.

Dungy's departure opens possibilities for his future, including potential roles within football organizations or the league, or increased involvement in church and community outreach. He coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1996 to 2001 and the Colts from 2002 to 2008. Prior to his head coaching roles, Dungy served as an assistant coach for various college and NFL teams from 1980 to 1995.
