University of Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan clarified Friday that he never agreed to participate in a youth football camp organized by FlexWorks Sports Management. The camp, which had been promoted with his name, was ultimately canceled earlier this month. McMillan addressed the issue during his first media availability of the 2026 training camp, emphasizing he had no prior knowledge of the event or its promotion.
The cancellation stemmed from a coordination failure between the management firm and McMillan, leading to the unauthorized public promotion of the camp. This miscommunication caused confusion and disappointment among prospective participants and their parents who had anticipated the athlete's presence. FlexWorks Sports Management has not provided a public explanation for the scheduling conflict.
McMillan Extends Outreach to Affected Youth
McMillan has expressed his intention to make amends for the misunderstanding, inviting affected youth to attend future team practices or games. He reiterated his dedication to community engagement while maintaining that he remains unaware of how the unauthorized event was initiated.
