Tesla Adds Model Y Braking Feature

Tesla has introduced a new "Comfort Braking" feature for its Model Y vehicles, effective with Juniper-updated models designated as model year 2026 or newer. The update, identified as Software Update 2026.8, aims to provide a smoother braking experience as the vehicle comes to a complete stop. This feature is currently exclusive to the Model Y and is not available on other Tesla models.

The company's release notes state, "Your Tesla now provides a smoother feel as you come to a complete stop during routine braking." This enhancement is part of Tesla's ongoing efforts to improve ride comfort through over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Previous updates have addressed regenerative braking performance, Full Self-Driving handling, and active road noise reduction in other models.

Tesla utilizes OTA updates to modify vehicle functionality, enabling the introduction of new features and the remediation of issues. This capability allows for continuous improvements to vehicle performance and user experience without requiring physical service appointments.
