TCMB reserves rise to $171.6 bn in Oct. 9 week
Gross reserves increased by $4.2 billion after six weeks without a gain, with net reserves and swap-adjusted net reserves also rising.

Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası, or TCMB, said gross reserves rose by $4.2 billion to $171.6 billion in the week to Oct. 9, according to reserve data released Oct. 15.
The weekly increase lifted official reserve assets 2.5% from $167.4 billion one week earlier, the TCMB’s International Reserves and Foreign Currency Liquidity data showed.
Foreign-currency assets stood at $64.5 billion in the week to Oct. 9, while gold reserves were $107 billion. Gold accounted for about 62% of gross reserves, compared with about 38% for foreign currency, according to Atlas360 calculations.
Atlas360 reported on Oct. 15 that foreign-currency reserves drove the weekly increase, while gold reserves slipped by $54 million from the previous week.
Net reserves also improved. They rose to $57.7 billion in the week to Oct. 9 from $53.8 billion one week earlier, while net reserves excluding swaps increased to $44.2 billion from $37.9 billion.
Swap-adjusted net reserves exclude currency-swap transactions, temporary exchanges of currencies that can affect headline liquidity measures. The figure is watched alongside gross reserves because it gives a narrower view of the central bank’s readily available foreign-exchange position.
