Take-Two faces $30 million GTA 6 leak threat
Rockstar has not commented on the latest post, while the alleged full build remains unverified ahead of the November 19 console launch.
Cyberleek threatened on October 10 to release a Grand Theft Auto VI build if its memecoin hits a $30 million market cap, Inven Global reported in a trade-press article.
The demand puts Take-Two Interactive in a public extortion dispute tied to crypto promotion, with the $30 million mark above the token's roughly $25 million peak on August 23, according to the article.
The demand
Inven Global said Cyberleek published a website post titled "The Offer" promising a build with "full story mode" through the ending credits if the token reaches the threshold. Cyberleek said Take-Two had "one way out": sell disc-based copies and issue a public apology.
The site also used smaller market-cap levels for other material, according to Inven Global. The article said videos related to the character Lucia would be released if the token reached $2 million, $4 million and $6 million.
Market capitalization in this context refers to the token price multiplied by circulating supply. Inven Global said Cyberleek placed a "$CYBERLEEK" watermark on leaked footage and posted a 25-minute video on October 8.
The article said Cyberleek framed the campaign as opposition to disc-less releases and digital preorders. It also reported that the videos used slogans including "higher market cap means more leaks," making the leak schedule directly dependent on token valuation.
Verification limits
Inven Global said Rockstar acknowledged August leaked clips as real. The article also said the October 8 video was assessed as genuine, though it did not identify a formal verification method for that assessment.
The claim of a complete playable build is unproven. Inven Global said the development stage of the alleged build is unknown, and that prior August material had been reported as an incomplete debug build needing Rockstar's authentication server.
The article said there is no confirmed evidence that Cyberleek has a release-ready version playable through the ending. It added that showing selected requested scenes would not establish possession of the entire game.
Take-Two context
Cyberleek's demand conflicts with Rockstar's current physical-release plan, according to the article. Inven Global said Rockstar confirmed in June that the GTA 6 physical edition would be sold as a boxed code without a disc.
The token link creates a financial incentive beyond the stated consumer protest. Inven Global cited analysis, without naming the analyst, indicating Cyberleek sold more than $250,000 of the token on August 27, four days after the reported market-cap peak.
Take-Two had already turned to the courts before the latest post. Inven Global said the company filed on August 20 in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York for subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord seeking identifying information for the "CYBERLEEK" account and others.
What to watch
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Inven Global. The article said no PC release date has been announced.
As of the October 10 article, Rockstar and Take-Two had not issued an official statement on Cyberleek's latest post. The leaker's identity remains unknown, according to Inven Global.
