The U.S. Championship, first held in 1845, is recognized globally for its high average rating among national competitions. Past champions include World Champion Robert "Bobby" James Fischer and current World No. 2 Hikaru Nakamura.
October Events Expand Chess Celebration

This conference will gather over 250 educators, researchers, and enthusiasts, with World Champion Garry Kasparov as a keynote speaker.
Hall of Fame Inductions Mark Excellence
The month will also include induction ceremonies for the U.S. Chess Hall of Fame and the World Chess Hall of Fame.
