Russell Brand trial hears account from one of 6 complainants

Russell Brand’s trial heard recorded police interviews on Oct. 21 in which a female complainant alleged a 2009 rape, according to a BBC court report from Southwark Crown Court.

The case places the comedian and actor, 51, before a jury on seven charges involving six female complainants over a 10-year period from 1999 to 2009. Brand denies all charges.

The complainant told police she first met Brand at one of his comedy shows at Hammersmith Apollo in 2009, the BBC reported. She said she later went to his dressing room and performed a sex act on him.

The woman alleged that during a later meeting at Brand’s house, sex was not consensual and that she had agreed only to vaginal sex. Asked in the police interview whether anal sex had been discussed, she replied: “No.”

The jury heard that the woman said she received a text message from Brand six months later saying he wanted to “push her further.” She said she responded: “I think you’ve pushed me far enough, you treated me like an animal.”

The complainant told police Brand replied immediately, saying: “I’m sorry,” according to the BBC report.

Brand denies three charges of rape, three charges of sexual assault and one charge of indecent assault. He has said he has never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity.

The trial continues at Southwark Crown Court.
