Ohio State QB Julian Sayin out indefinitely with arm injury

Ohio State starting quarterback Julian Sayin is out indefinitely with a throwing arm injury sustained during Saturday's 19-15 win over Indiana, head coach Ryan Day said on Tuesday. The program is preparing for the possibility that the Heisman Trophy finalist will miss the remainder of the regular season and the postseason.

Sayin suffered the injury during the fourth quarter after being sacked on a play that caused his arm to twist awkwardly. He was seen leaving the locker room in a sling following the game. Day confirmed the severity of the situation on Tuesday, stating the team is developing a contingency plan for the remainder of the fall.

"We're not gonna put any timeline for his injury, but he is out indefinitely," Day said in comments reported by Eleven Warriors. The coach added that the team is prioritizing privacy for Sayin's family while evaluating his availability for the upcoming schedule.

True freshman Luke Fahey is expected to step into the starting role. Fahey appeared briefly against Indiana, completing zero of two pass attempts. Ohio State enters a bye week before facing a stretch of opponents including USC, Oregon, Northwestern, Nebraska, and Michigan.
