Monster Hunter Wilds sales slow to 800,000 in fiscal first half
Switch 2 and Ascendance releases give Capcom a recovery path after post-launch complaints over difficulty, endgame content and performance.

Monster Hunter Wilds sold 800,000 units in Capcom's fiscal first half of 2026, Merlin'in Kazanı reported on Nov. 8, citing Capcom's Platinum Title list, its major-title sales table.
The slowdown matters because the game had reached 11.8 million units by June 30, while 2021's Monster Hunter Rise sold about 700,000 units in the comparable period, the report said.
Merlin'in Kazanı said the first-half figure points to a clear cooling after a strong launch. Based on the June 30 total, the site said the latest quarter contributed about 400,000 units.
The comparison gives investors and players a cleaner read on demand after launch. Monster Hunter Wilds is available on more platforms than Monster Hunter Rise, according to the report, yet its recent pace trails the earlier game's comparable-period sales.
Capcom sees several reasons for the slowdown, the site reported. It cited lower difficulty, limited endgame content and performance problems as factors that reduced player interest after release.
The company still expects room for improvement. Merlin'in Kazanı reported that Capcom believes price cuts tied to the Nintendo Switch 2 version and the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion announcements have helped sales tempo and concurrent player numbers.
Capcom's development team has added monsters, quests and mechanics, according to the report. The site said PC performance improvements helped Steam user reviews return to Mostly Positive, a Steam user-review rating tier, after roughly 18 months.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for Dec. 4, 2026, giving Capcom a dated platform expansion to test whether new hardware can lift sales.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is scheduled for release across all platforms in 2027. Merlin'in Kazanı did not report a more specific date for the expansion.
