Apple Releases M5 MacBook Air

Apple Inc. has released the M5 MacBook Air, alongside new M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros and the MacBook Neo. The M5 MacBook Air, available in 13-inch and 15-inch models, features an upgraded M5 chip and increased base storage, but also comes with a higher starting price compared to its predecessor.

The 13-inch M5 MacBook Air now starts at $1,099, a $100 increase from the M4 model, while the 15-inch version begins at $1,299. Both models now include 512GB of base storage, an increase from the previous 256GB, which was previously a $200 upgrade option. The 15-inch model guarantees a 10-core M5 GPU, whereas the 13-inch model offers an 8-core version.

Over the past five years, the MacBook Air series has incorporated several features previously exclusive to the MacBook Pro, including four generational processor upgrades, a redesign in the M2 model, the introduction of a 15-inch option, and increases in base RAM from 8GB to 16GB, and maximum RAM to 32GB. Maximum storage has also increased to 4TB, and external display support has improved to two 6K 60 Hz displays with the lid open.
