Lucid Unveils New Mid-Size EV Crossovers

Lucid Group announced on March 12 the names of its first two mid-size electric crossovers, Cosmos and Earth, during its Investor Day 2026 event in New York City. These new models, expected to debut later this year, aim to expand Lucid's market reach into the mid-size SUV segment, targeting a starting price of approximately $50,000.

The Cosmos and Earth will feature an 800-volt battery system with zonal architecture supporting bidirectional charging. They will be powered by a new "Atlas" drive unit, which Lucid states offers a 23% weight reduction and 30% fewer parts compared to current-generation motors. The Cosmos is projected to achieve over 300 miles of range with a 69-kilowatt-hour battery capacity, attributed to a drag coefficient of 0.22.

Interior design will include a single, ultra-widescreen display on the dashboard, replacing the traditional center touchscreen, and will integrate an AI-powered assistant. The Cosmos is positioned as an urban, performance-oriented vehicle, while the Earth is designed for suburban, all-road driving. A third mid-size model is also under development.
