Jio IPO demand tops offer within 100 minutes
Bids reached 20.25 crore shares by 10:39 a.m., above the 19.75 crore shares on offer.

Jio Platforms' IPO was fully subscribed in less than 100 minutes on Oct. 21, with demand reaching 1.03 times the shares on offer by 10:39 a.m., data showed.
Investors bid for about 20.25 crore shares against 19.75 crore shares available, while the qualified institutional buyer book was subscribed 3.25 times. The pace points to strong early demand for one of India's largest equity offerings.
QIB demand leads the book
Qualified institutional buyers, a category that includes large institutional investors, accounted for the strongest early subscription level in the figures released by midmorning. Their 3.25-times coverage compared with overall demand of 1.03 times at 10:39 a.m.
The early oversubscription gives bankers and issuers a cleaner read on domestic risk appetite after a year in which large listings have been watched as a gauge for Indian equity demand. IPO subscription figures can shift through the day as retail and institutional bids are added or revised.
For Indian equities, the mechanism is straightforward: a fast-covered book can support confidence in new issuance, while weak late demand would narrow the read-through for other companies planning listings. For Jio Platforms, the open question is whether the subscription multiple widens after the early institutional orders.
The next marker is the subscription update later on Oct. 21, after the 10:39 a.m. snapshot, when investors can compare overall demand with the QIB book.
