Aberdeen dropped below Hibernian on goal difference after a fifth defeat in six Scottish Premiership matches intensified scrutiny of Stephen Robinson.

Hibernian climb off bottom with 4-0 win at Aberdeen

Hibernian beat Aberdeen 4-0 at Pittodrie on Saturday, Nov. 7, a result Sky Sports said moved Hibs off the bottom of the Scottish Premiership.

The win put Hibernian above Aberdeen on goal difference, while the Dons suffered a fifth defeat in six league games and heard home supporters aim anger at head coach Stephen Robinson.

Jamie McGrath, a former Aberdeen player, opened the scoring in the 57th minute with a left-footed strike from 25 yards after Joe Newell’s short pass. Callum Wright added the second in the 79th minute.

Nicky Cadden made it 3-0 in the 87th minute with an angled finish before Thibault Klidje completed the scoring in the third minute of stoppage time from Wright’s cross.

Aberdeen had chances before the match moved away from them. Raphael Sallinger saved from Hicham Mahou in the 14th minute, Jack Milne forced another save from distance, and Milne later hit the bar with a header from the following corner.

Hibernian also had to adjust early after captain Felix Passlack went off injured inside the first 10 minutes. Their only starting change had been enforced, with Adam Mayor absent through injury.

Aberdeen made three changes from the side that lost late to Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals. Ayoub Mouloua was ill, Emmanuel Gyamfi was injured, Gavin Molloy dropped out, and Dan Happe, Tony Yogane and Hicham Mahou came into the team.

The result followed contrasting cup weekends for the two clubs. Hibernian had recovered to beat Hearts 2-1 in their semi-final, while Aberdeen were beaten late by Rangers.

For Aberdeen, the missed opportunity was clear: Sky Sports said a win could have lifted the home side to eighth. Instead, Hibernian drew level on points and moved ahead through goal difference after scoring four times in the final 36 minutes.
