Amazon.com and Cerebras Systems have announced a strategic collaboration to launch a new service aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence applications. This initiative will integrate Cerebras' specialized AI chips within Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers, leveraging Amazon's custom networking infrastructure.
The partnership focuses on enhancing AI inference capabilities, which involves the process of trained AI models responding to user queries. Under this arrangement, Amazon's proprietary Trainium3 custom AI chips will manage the initial "prefill" stage, converting user requests into a format understandable by AI systems. Subsequently, Cerebras chips will handle the "decode" stage, responsible for generating the AI's output or response.
