Amazon launches AI hiring tool Connect Talent

Amazon on Tuesday introduced new agentic software in San Francisco aimed at automating and speeding up large-scale hiring, with a focus on seasonal recruitment. The company also outlined an AI design philosophy it calls “humorphism,” which it said is intended to fit artificial intelligence into human workflows rather than fully replacing people.

The hiring product, called Connect Talent, is built to handle high-volume recruiting tasks that Amazon repeats each year. The company said the system is designed to support the hiring of hundreds of thousands of workers annually, including seasonal roles.

Connect Talent targets seasonal hiring at scale

Amazon said Connect Talent can run interviews using AI and produce notes for recruiters without direct human involvement. The company framed the tool as a way to accelerate screening and reduce manual work in the early stages of recruitment.

Amazon pointed to its seasonal hiring as an example of the scale involved. The company hired about 250,000 seasonal employees last year, and it said the new system is intended to streamline similar hiring cycles.

Amazon said job candidates will be told when AI is used during screening. The company also said it is still refining the product, including work to make the AI’s conversational style sound more natural.

“Humorphism” and a broader push for AI agents

Alongside the product launch, Amazon described “humorphism” as a guiding approach for how it designs AI tools. The company presented the concept as a way to embed AI into existing processes so that people can use it as part of their work.

The announcement comes as more companies deploy AI agents for enterprise uses, reflecting a wider industry shift toward software that can complete tasks with less direct supervision. Amazon’s launch also follows its recent investment of up to $50 billion in OpenAI, according to the source material.

Connect Decisions expands the same approach to supply chains

Amazon also introduced a second product, Connect Decisions, which it said is designed to analyze and compile data used in supply chain planning and purchasing. The company said the tool draws on Amazon’s internal supply chain experience to provide planners with the data they need.

The company’s emphasis on efficiency through AI has coincided with corporate job cuts. Amazon has reduced roughly 30,000 corporate roles since October, with the reductions described as partly linked to AI-driven efficiencies.

Amazon did not provide a timeline for broader rollout beyond the Tuesday unveiling, and it said the hiring AI is still being improved. The company’s disclosures suggest the tools are positioned to expand automation in both recruiting and operational planning while keeping humans in the workflow.
