Diggs acquitted in criminal trial; NFL Personal Conduct Policy review remains open

Free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs was acquitted in a criminal trial this week, removing one legal obstacle as he looks for a new National Football League (NFL) team.

However, the acquittal does not end the NFL’s ongoing review under its Personal Conduct Policy. The league has said the investigation remains open, and the outcome could affect Diggs’ availability for the 2026 season.

Diggs pointed to his 2025 production as evidence he can still perform at a high level, noting he played 52% of snaps and finished the season with 85 catches for 1,045 yards while coming off an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The 2025 campaign was his first and only season with the New England Patriots and marked the seventh 1,000-yard season of his career.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Diggs was named first-team All-Pro in 2020 and second-team All-Pro in 2022. Even with the criminal case resolved, teams weighing a potential signing will be monitoring the status of the league’s review, which could influence both timing and contract talks.
