Wembanyama powers Spurs past Timberwolves as Knicks take 3-0 lead over 76ers

Victor Wembanyama produced a dominant all-around display as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-108 in Minneapolis on Friday, May 9 to take a 2-1 lead in their NBA playoff series.

Wembanyama finished with 39 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks, including 16 points in the fourth quarter to help the Spurs pull away late. Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards had 32 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, but the Timberwolves were unable to overturn a slow start that included missing their first 12 field-goal attempts.

In the Eastern Conference, the New York Knicks moved to within one win of the conference finals by defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 108-94 to go 3-0 up in their best-of-seven series.

Jalen Brunson led New York with 33 points and nine assists as the Knicks extended their winning streak to six games. The Knicks can complete a sweep in Game 4 on Sunday in Philadelphia. No team in NBA history has come back from 3-0 down in a best-of-seven series.
