Ubisoft plans RedLynx closure and 70 Singapore cuts

The French game publisher said the Finland closure proposal is subject to local negotiations, while Singapore remains part of its production network.

Ubisoft plans RedLynx closure and 70 Singapore cuts

Ubisoft plans to close RedLynx in Finland, affecting up to 52 positions, and cut 70 jobs at Ubisoft Singapore, VGChartz reported Oct. 14, citing a company statement.

The actions would affect up to 122 positions across the two studios, according to Atlas360 calculations. The 70 Singapore roles represent about one-fifth of that studio’s workforce, VGChartz reported.

“Today, we informed our teams of a proposal to close RedLynx in Finland, subject to the local change negotiation process, which would affect up to 52 positions,” Ubisoft said in the statement cited by VGChartz.

“At Ubisoft Singapore, 70 positions have been impacted to align the studio with upcoming production needs,” Ubisoft said. “The studio remains an important part of Ubisoft’s global production organization.”

Ubisoft bought RedLynx in 2011 after the studio’s Trials 2 and Trials HD releases. RedLynx continued to work on the Trials series through 2019’s Trials Fusion, then became a support studio for other Ubisoft projects.

GamesIndustry, cited by VGChartz, said RedLynx has no current project assignment and no sustainable standalone titles. The supplied material did not include a financial impact from the proposed closure or the Singapore cuts.

Ubisoft Singapore was founded in 2008 as a support studio and worked on naval combat sections of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. It later became lead developer on Skull and Bones, which was delayed for several years before its 2024 release.

The Finland closure remains a proposal subject to local negotiations, according to Ubisoft’s statement. The supplied material did not give a timetable for completing the process.
