TCMB reserves rise $4.187 bn in week to Oct. 9
Foreign-currency reserves drove the weekly increase, while gold reserves slipped by $54 million from the prior week.

Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası’s total reserves rose by $4.187 billion in the week to Oct. 9 to $171.575 billion, AA reported in a story published by Yeni Mesaj on Oct. 15.
The AA report showed TCMB’s total reserves increased from $167.388 billion a week earlier, adding to the central bank’s external liquidity buffer, a closely watched measure for Turkey’s macroeconomic position.
Gross foreign-currency reserves accounted for the rise. They climbed by $4.241 billion to $64.567 billion as of Oct. 9, compared with $60.326 billion on Oct.
2, according to the report.
Gold reserves moved in the opposite direction during the same week. They fell by $54 million to $107.008 billion from $107.062 billion.
Central-bank reserve figures are used by investors and policymakers to assess foreign-exchange liquidity and potential capacity to respond to external financing pressure. The reported total combines gross foreign-currency holdings and gold reserves.
The article did not give reasons for the weekly change, did not include net reserve figures and did not report market reaction.
