South Decatur, North Decatur Secure Homecoming Football Wins

South Decatur High School's Cougars secured a decisive 49-0 victory over Brown County in their Week 5 Homecoming game, advancing their season record to 3-2. This shutout also improved their Mid-Indiana Football Conference standing to 2-1. Brown County's Eagles now hold a 1-4 overall record and remain winless at 0-2 in conference play.

Cougars Dominate Conference Rival

South Decatur established an early lead against Brown County. Braxton Evans opened scoring with a 1-yard run, followed by a 2-point conversion from quarterback Brock Barnes to Ryken Winchester. Barnes then connected with Winchester for a 20-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 14-0 in the first quarter.

Offensive Pressure Builds Early

The Cougars maintained offensive pressure as Barnes threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Lucas Hatfield. Evans added another 1-yard rushing touchdown, and Winchester contributed a 1-yard rushing score, bringing the halftime lead to 35-0. South Decatur's defense held Brown County scoreless throughout the game, preventing any offensive momentum.

North Decatur Hawks Also Victorious

North Decatur High School also celebrated a Homecoming victory, defeating Switzerland County 42-14. This win improved the Hawks' season record to 3-2. Quarterback Carson Heath led the offense, completing 10 of 12 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Heath also contributed on the ground with 10 carries for 100 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Kaden Muckerheide proved a significant offensive threat for North Decatur, catching three passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 100 yards on 10 carries. Jake McClintic added 50 rushing yards on 10 carries and scored a touchdown, showcasing the Hawks' balanced offensive attack.
